Doctors in charge of Lindsay Lohan's rehab stint have told a court she should not spend more than 30 days in their care, according to a US report.

A celebrity news blog claims the medics have recommended that the Mean Girls star be released before the end of her court-ordered 90-day programme.

Lohan's lawyer Shawn Chapman Holley, LA District Attorney Danette Meyers and Judge Elden Fox met in chambers on Wednesday afternoon to discuss the actress's treatment.

But the trio are yet to reach a decision and have scheduled another court hearing next week.

Lohan, 24, was admitted to the UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles earlier this month after being released from jail.

She was sentenced to jail and told to complete a 90-day rehab programme after being found guilty of breaching the terms of her probation from a 2007 drink-driving conviction.

But Ms. Holley, Ms. Meyers and Judge Fox met in private at the Beverly Hills courthouse to discuss whether she can be released early.

According to US blogs, UCLA doctors handed over a medical report to the court to help them make up their minds.

The final decision will rest in the hands of Judge Fox.
