Paris Hilton Cocaine Arrest Follows Lindsay Lohan Release from Rehab

Paris Hilton is making headlines again, but not the kind she'd like to make. After being pulled over in Las Vegas, MTV.com is reporting that .8 grams of cocaine allegedly fell out of Paris Hilton's purse. She
is charged with felony possession of a controlled substance. The socialite and hotel heiress, who rose to fame after a sex tape was released in 2003, was riding with boyfriend Cy Watts, a Wynn Resort nightclub boss. The police stopped Watts because of the strong smell of marijuana emanating from the car. Hilton is claiming the purse was previously held by a friend.

Hilton, 29, may be going in on the heels of fellow party girl Lindsay Lohan, 24, coming out of jail and rehab, according to ABC News. Despite having been sentenced to 90 days in jail to be followed by 90 days in drug rehabilitation, Lohan served only 13 days of the sentence and 22 days in rehab. She was sentenced after violating probation over a cocaine possession and drunk driving case in 2007.

While Lohan reportedly is "looking forward to beginning anew and having a productive life and schedule," according to her lawyer Shawn Chapman Holley, the Sun is reporting that, in the shadow of Hilton's arrest, Lohan has already gotten herself in trouble not one day out of rehab. Lohan was stopped by police for running a red light while en route to Chateau Marmont, a celebrity hangout. Early Sunday morning, she was let off with a warning.

Lohan must undergo random drug and alcohol tests twice a week and attend behavioral therapy classes. She hopes to be able to leave Los Angeles by November in order to work on a movie about porn star Linda Lovelace in Louisiana. The movie, "Inferno", is her attempt to reignite a flagging film career.

Hilton, Lohan, and other celebrities have been partying hard in Hollywood while former troubled stars have found the road to redemption. Robert Downey Jr., a former associate of the so-called "Brat Pack" in the 1980s, went through a series of arrests and personal problems from 1996 to 2003. Since then, he's gone on to turn in winning performances in "Iron Man," "Tropic Thunder" and "Sherlock Holmes."
