Lindsay Lohan doing drugs, nude and having a threesome with her mother…that’s just the first reel of Robert Rodriguez’s much awaited exploitation pic Machete.
Tons has been written aboutLohan and her viability after her jail sentence and rehab stint, but Rodriguez says she was a pro every step of the way.
“She was always there,”Rodriguez begins then adds, “you’ve got to remember this is Troublemaker Studios – hey, we’re always in trouble. From ex-con to icon our whole operation is giving people a chance to do something great.”

The ex-con Rodriguez is referring to is Machete lead actor, Danny Trejo, who spent time in the slammer years earlier for armed robbery and drug offenses, but has since enjoyed a healthy career in show biz.
And Trejo, whose been there himself, is sympathetic to Lohan. He points out that she isn’t much different than other girls her age.
“She basically’s not doing anything a lot of other girls aren’t doing her age. She just has a camera on her all the time,” Trejo says.

Lohan’s role has her finding her true calling as a gun-wielding nun, which was a part Rodriguez developed for her. Rodriguez had produced the fake trailer for Machete as a part of the Grindhouse pics from 2007. To use all the elements shot for Machete in the feature-length movie, Rodriguezadmits he had to be creative.
“I had to reverse engineer the movie,” he begins adding “I would look at the trailer and say, ‘The scene in the waterfall with the two beautiful blondes how did he get there?’ I looked at one of them, the hair was covering her face and I went, ‘That could easily be Lindsay if we style her hair the same.’”
